25 June 2009, this is a day which no Michael Jackson fan would forget, as their biggest fear
became a reality. The King of Pop had passed away and the music world lost a big icon.
This was a few weeks before he would perform at his first of 50 come-back concerts at the
O2 arena in London. His first posthumous album was released on 15 Dec 2010 featuring
artists such as Akon and 50cent. It wasn’t welcomed by the fans as they didn’t believe it was
Michael’s voice. Now, they are met by more unhappy fans, but this time it is because of a
Tribute concert.
It has been 2 years since the King of Pop had an untimely death. There have however been
talks about organising a tribute concert since his death and it seems as if everything is falling
in place. The events company Global Live Events has been working on some ideas for a
show and came up with the biggest artist line-up one could think of. Artists include Christina
Aguilera, Craig David, Leona Lewis, Pixie Lott, Ne-Yo and many more acts that must still be
finalised. The concert is set to take place at the Millennium Stadium in Wales on 8 October
2011. Beyoncé would have been one of the biggest acts on the night, but decided to pull out
with unknown reasons.
There has however been mixed emotions as the concert takes place the same time as Dr.
Conrad Murray’s trial, Michael Jacksons personal doctor. Michael Jackson’s own sister,
Janet Jackson told Online Entertainment that she won’t perform or attend the concert as it
is still too painful. Many MJ fan sites also think that it is a bad idea for the concert to be
clashing with the trail as all attention must be on the trail. Global Live Events is however not
cancelling the show as they believe that the show will be an instant sell out and a treat to big
fans.
It seems as if there’s no stopping this tribute concert from taking place, even though MJ’s
family is unhappy with it. The only thing we hope for now is to see more big artists perform
and make it worthwhile. Who would you like to see performing?
