Slow Service at Wijnhuis!
On Tuesday afternoon after my lectures were over, I found myself seated at a table at the Wijnhuis restaurant in Stellenbosch. I had heard quite a lot of hype about Wijnhuis prior to my visit and was really looking forward to experiencing some of the great things I had heard about. Hence, I ordered a chicken and mayonnaise toasted sandwich (recommended to me by a friend) which was pretty good if I may so say myself. However the food may be good but the service is almost none existent! I don’t think I have been to a place where the service is so slow, and what makes it more puzzling is that there was only one other table occupied so they weren’t particularly busy.
However the selection of wine that they make available to you is really impressive and it’s worth stopping over and having a bottle with a couple friends. At the end of the meal we ordered a couple cappuccinos… Bad idea! All I can say is, rather stick to the wine!
But all that being said, Wijnhuis is in a great location and I’ll let you experience it for yourself.

I’m pretty sure Beads beats Wijnhuis for bad service. Go see for yourself – I aint going near it again.
Beads will be next on my list to go and check out! If Beads is as you say it is, then it sounds pretty disastrous to me… We will have to see!

I am sure it was a once off bad experience and I am sure Beads Restaurant is superb. Sometime in the next week or so, I’ll make a visit and will see for myself. But I have no doubt it will be just as it should.

Beads’ service aren’t that great, but I haven’t really had great service recently anywhere else either that I can rave about. I am a waiter myself. Service in Stellenbosch in general sucks, I’m adding cashiers now as well, Checkers and BP popping to mind first.
